A grade II-listed country house set in 26 acres in Shropshire has gone on the market with a price tag of £1.25 million.

Hampton House, in Welshampton, near Ellesmere, features three converted holiday cottages, an outdoor swimming pool and stables.

The property is on the market with agents Halls and is believed to have been originally built in the 1830s by the Topham family, famous for their ownership of Aintree racecourse.

The house has been restored and features accommodation over three floors with views over the gardens, land and open countryside.

The internal accommodation, which was greatly improved by the current vendors about 16 years ago, boasts a number of original features.
