Developers behind a controversial new housing development in Wem today revealed they are considering an appeal.

Millhouse (Waterside) Developments wants to create 22 homes off Mill Street, despite strong opposition from residents.

The application was thrown out by Shropshire Council's north planning committee last week despite applicants claiming the development will actually protect 100 existing houses from flooding.

Darryl Wright, of architects Bleazard & Galletta, today said: "An appeal is being considered and the reasons for refusal are being looked into."

The scheme was put on hold due to concerns by the Environment Agency over the floodplain. Architects submitted alterations which they say had EA approval.
