Plans have been revealed to create a new housing and employment development in Whitchurch, which could create hundreds of new jobs.
Plans for the scheme for a mixed use development, including 60 homes, on about 30 acres of land off Waymills will go on display at Whitchurch Civic Centre on July 18 from 5pm to 8pm. Developers will be available to talk to members of the public about the proposals.
Councillors have welcomed the development in principle and say they are looking forward to finding out more about it at the consultation event.
Councillor Rob Hewson, the deputy mayor of Whit-church, said: "Obviously the new jobs will be a boost to the town and it will encourage more people to live in Whitchurch.
"As long as it's done properly I haven't got a problem with it."
Peter Richards, of property consultants Peter Richards & Co, said the site would be available for warehousing and industrial units, which could create hundreds of jobs.
"The owners of the land off Waymills are promoting their land for an employment led, mixed use development," he said.
"At this stage the proposals made are indicative.
"The suggested employment land provision covers about 8.5 hectares (21 acres) and is capable of accommodating a variety of employment opportunities.
"The proposed residential element covers an area of approximately three hectares (7.5 acres) and is anticipated to accommodate 60 family and starter homes developed to a similar density to the surrounding residential developments."
Mr Richards added: "Particular effort will be made to ensure the proposed development will be of a high quality design and will incorporate landscape buffers/open space throughout the development."
If anyone is unable to attend the public exhibition, but wishes to register comments or discuss the proposal, they can contact Peter Richards & Co by emailing info@peterrichardsonline.co.uk or calling (01948) 840309.
