Builders bidding for 375 more new Telford homes
The final stage of a housing development which will see 375 homes built in Telford could get under way this spring, a decade after the project was begun.
Since 2004 the first two phases of the Ketley Millennium Village, in Holyhead Road, Ketley, have been built and Taylor Wimpey has now lodged a planning application for the final three phases.
Phases 3, 4 and 5 of the work, called the Telford Millennium Community will include 375 houses and apartments, as well as associated roadworks, landscaping and public open spaces.
The development will include 56 affordable homes.
Including the first two phases, this will mean that 21 per cent of the Millennium Community will be affordable properties.
Phil Radford, from Taylor Wimpey Homes, said: "This is the final phase in a unique project that began over a decade ago.
"This is an opportunity to deliver a high quality residential development which meets the housing need in a sustainable location and provide significant benefits to the local community."
As part of the conditions of development, Taylor Wimpey will be providing funding for improvements to cycle routes around the site and also the provision of safe routes to Hadley Learning Centre, as well as giving £175 to Ketley Parish Council towards the refurbishment of the former Ketley Infants School, and £2,065,000 to the Meadows School to pay for its amalgamation, extra classrooms and the creation of safe routes to the school.
The site will also include a children's play area, ball court and skate park which will be suitable for roller skating, skate boarding or cycling.
Outline planning permission for the whole Telford Millennium Community project was granted in 2004 but has since lapsed, prompting this new application.
The development will be made up of a mixture of two bedroomed apartments and two, three and four bedroomed houses, with parking spaces.
