Plans have been lodged with Telford & Wrekin Council to convert The White Horse pub in Lincoln Hill.

A new report, submitted with the planning application, states that the early 18th century building would be transformed into a hotel with 15 en-suite rooms.

It is believed the development would also bring six jobs.

The report says that the property is generally in good condition externally but the interior is in need of repair and modernisation.

The property currently has a large open plan bar and dining area with a kitchen and preparation areas on the ground floor.

The report says: "The proposal will see the main entrance move from the front porch to the rear.

"The circulation areas will be kept to the rear to maximise the room sizes.

"A corridor will run the length of the property with a staircase, lift and all the rooms coming off it.

"Each of the rooms will have a similar layout with a small en-suite in the corner, a small central breakfast bar area and a large double bed with views out."

The ground floor will have six en-suite rooms and a small office.

The five rooms to the front of the property will also have patio doors leading out onto a garden area.

Under the plans, there will be another six en-suite rooms on the first floor and the loft will be converted into three en-suite rooms.

Rear and first floor extensions would be needed to carry out the conversion.

There is also a large car park to the south-east of the building and a paved patio area to the front of the property towards the road.

Access to the property would remain the same, as would the car park.

The report adds: "The proposal and internal alterations to this property aim to provide modern hotel accommodation whilst ensuring that the character and history of the building is retained, and that a building of local interest within the World Heritage Site is maintained.

"The design and layout of the proposed scheme ensures that the impact on neighbouring properties and the site is reduced to a minimum.

"The scale and details included also ensure that the proposed alterations sit well within the surroundings."

Telford & Wrekin Council is expected to come to a decision on the plans in the upcoming months.
