Amazon has updated its smart speaker so that it’s fully functional in the build-up to the General Election.

The Alexa virtual assistant, available through the Amazon Echo or Echo Dot, will now give election updates at the ask of a question.

Alexa can now tell you what the polls are predicting, provide information on the main parties and their leaders, and will also provide live updates on June 8 as results come in.

Questions such as “Alexa, what is the polling like?” will provide a summary of current polling information, while you can also ask “Alexa, what’s the latest with Theresa May?” for an update of news relating to May’s (or any other leader’s) election campaign.

When polls close, Alexa will provide results as they come in.

Ask: “Alexa, who is winning the election?” and Alexa will tell you which party is in the lead, the number of seats the party has won, the total number of seats declared at the time, and the number of seats won by the parties in second and third place.

It seems like David Dimbleby’s election night coverage might have a few less viewers than usual.
