Pay with Google goes live to make buying things in Android and Chrome faster
The new payment system was first announced in the spring.
Google has announced the roll out of its fast-track online payment feature – Pay with Google – allowing users to complete a transaction in a few taps.
The new feature, which is going live for Android users in the UK and will be compatible with a selection of online stores and food outlets, enables users make purchases with any of the debit or credit cards already linked to their Google account.
As a result, users will no longer have to fill out laborious payment forms, instead tapping pay with Google and then their method of choice to complete a transaction.
“When you pay with Google, you can use any of the credit or debit cards you’ve added to your Google Account from products like Google Play, YouTube, Chrome or Android Pay,” Google’s Pali Bhat said.
The tech giant has confirmed a host of global launch partners – shown below – as well as upcoming support for the likes of Deliveroo and AirBnb in the UK.
As well as the 15 announced launch locations, Pay with Google will also work in the desktop Chrome web browser and should start appearing from today, the tech giant said.
