Wembley to launch contactless tickets on iPhone and Apple Watch this month
Fans will be able to tap in at the turnstiles.
Wembley Stadium will introduce contactless ticketing later this month – enabling iPhone and Apple Watch users to enter the turnstiles using a digital ticket on their device.
The new system will see fans able to save contactless tickets to the Wallet app and then tap in at the turnstiles to enter the stadium.
The rollout of the technology follows trials among a select number of supporters at England internationals last year, and will be available around the entire stadium beginning with England’s friendly with Italy on March 27.
Contactless payments using Apple Pay on an iPhone or Apple Watch are already accepted inside the ground.
The new ticketing system will also be on offer for the numerous other entertainment and sporting events taking place at the stadium throughout 2018 and beyond.
“I loved trying out contactless tickets in Apple Wallet, it’s nice to be part of the future of fans getting into venues, especially at somewhere as iconic as Wembley Stadium,” he said.
“It’s a much easier and quicker way to get into stadiums and removes the hassle of paper tickets. It will definitely motivate me to use contactless tickets in Apple Wallet going forward.”
