Has Google just teased the full name of Android P?
The company’s Instagram story appears to have hinted at the ‘sweet treat’ that will be the name of this year’s Android update.
One of the tech industry’s most wholesome traditions is Google’s naming of each new Android version after a “sweet treat”.
The tech giant does this in alphabetical order and in 2018 we’re up to P – with speculation already rife as to what could follow last year’s Android Oreo.
The announcement usually takes place in the summer, but Google may have let the name slip out early this year via its Instagram Story which, among a selection of images it encouraged users to screenshot and use as phone screensavers to celebrate spring, included an image of popsicles.
At the start of the year, a Google Streetview mini-game inside the firm’s developer lab included a cryptic image of a pineapple cake, while a tweet about the company’s developer conference in May – known as Google I/O – saw the logo turn into something that looked awfully like a pineapple.
I/O is now less than a month away, so the answer to this sweet mystery may not be far off being solved.
