PS4 is nearing the end of its life cycle, says Playstation boss John Kodera
The console was released in November 2013.
According to Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO John Kodera, the Playstation 4 is entering the end of its life cycle.
Kodera made the comments at the company’s annual Investor Relations Day, as reported by Wall Street Journal tech reporter Takashi Mochizuki.
He was addressing shareholders, and some reports suggest his comments were made in an attempt to address a downturn in sales: 16 million PS4 consoles are projected to be sold in the current financial year, compared with 19 million in the previous year.
The console however will not be discontinued any time soon, and is still expected to sell in large numbers.
Since Kodera’s comments, speculation has increased surrounding a Playstation 5 console, but no hardware announcements are expected from this year’s E3, which is set to take place in June.
