Snapchat users can now search the thousands of in-app Lenses created using the social media site’s Lens Studio and use them as filters for their posts to the social network.

Snapchat introduced the Lens Studio earlier this year as a desktop app that enabled more creative Snapchat users to build their own face filters for the photo-sharing app.

It is a tool predominantly for developers and brands to create their own specific Lenses for Snapchat.

Now with the new Lens Explorer feature, the wider Snapchat userbase will be able to discover new Lenses from within the Carousel that appears at the bottom of the in-app camera screen.

Users will soon be able to tap on a new face icon that appears here and then select various Studio-created Lenses to try out for themselves.

The social media app confirmed the new Explorer tool would start rolling out to Apple iOS users initially, and once live would enable users to also find new Lenses via the app’s search bar as well as through the Carousel.

Snapchat added that the announcement was part of wider company plans to help foster and support a developer community on the platform.
