YouTube’s dark mode is starting to reach Android users
The new theme was introduced for iOS users earlier this year.
A dark mode for YouTube’s mobile apps is being rolled out to Android users, having already been introduced to iOS devices and on the website.
The feature has been steadily introduced as a way of making the platform easier on the eye – particularly during viewing sessions in low light.
Twitter is another major mobile platform to have previously introduced the optional feature.
YouTube introduced the darker theme to iOS devices in March, revealing that since rolling it out as a setting for the desktop version it has become one of the “top requested features” for mobile.
The mode has started to appear in the settings of select Android users, with the rollout expected to ramp up in the coming days.
Once in place, a new toggle in the settings menu will enable users to switch the darker theme on and off.
