Everything you need to know about the new Pixel Slate and Google Home Hub
Google’s new tablet and smart home speaker will go on sale over the next two months.
Google has launched a brand new tablet and smart home device. Here’s what we know about them:
– Pixel Slate
The new Pixel Slate tablet has a new Molecular Display, which Google says enables electrons in the screen to move faster and create a sharper image as a result.
It runs on Google’s own Chrome OS, the operating system based around the company’s own web browser of the same name.
A full, web version of the browser can be used on the Slate, alongside multi-tasking tools such as split-screen and apps from the Google Play Store.
The tablet also comes with eight-megapixel cameras on both the front and rear, which even support Portrait mode photography, where the background behind a subject is blurred.
Google says the Slate’s battery will also last up to 12 hours on a single charge.
The device has a compatible keyboard, however, it must be bought separately for £189, and supports touchscreen interactions with the Pixelbook Pen stylus.
It goes on sale on November 22, starting at £549.
– Google Home Hub
The latest addition to the Google Home smart speaker family, the Hub is the first Google Home device to come with a built-in display.
The £139 device has a 7-inch screen can be used to show weather and news information, as well as to watch YouTube videos and use apps such as Google Maps.
The display includes what the tech firm calls Ambient EQ, a light sensor which automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness as the light conditions around it change.
Like all other Google Home devices, the Hub can be voice-controlled via the Google Assistant, enabling users to have queries answered as well as connect to and control other smart home devices around the home.
