YouTube is now available on the Nintendo Switch
The video service is available as a free download from the Nintendo eShop.
YouTube has launched on the Nintendo Switch, becoming one of the first major video apps to be made available on the games console.
The Google-owned video service can be downloaded for free from the hybrid console’s built-in eShop.
Switch content beyond games is still relatively thin on the ground, so the introduction of an official, full YouTube experience is likely to be welcomed by Switch users who have aspirations of using the home/hybrid console as an entertainment hub as well as a gaming device.
Other consoles, including the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One lines, support a range of entertainment services including music and video streaming apps as well as their gaming libraries.
In recent months Nintendo has launched its Labo line of cardboard-based playsets, but these also revolve predominately around the games that can be played and built alongside the cardboard constructions.
The Switch has been a high-profile success for Nintendo, with the Japanese firm putting its return to profitability partly down to the popularity of the console, whose flagship games includes The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and Super Mario Odyssey.
