Shropshire's A49 set for two months of closures
Sections of one of the Shropshire's main roads, the A49, will be closed overnight for almost two months.
The road which runs through south Shropshire will be closed from 8pm to 6am for resurfacing work between August 15 and October 13.
The closure will follow a month of pavement work on the A49 near Shrewsbury, from June 20 to July 22.
In all cases there will be a full closure of at least a stretch of the A49 between Bayston Hill and Craven Arms, with diversions in place.
From June to July the works will be on the stretch from Stapleton to Condover, with speed restrictions during the day and closure from 8pm to 6am.
From August 15 to September 20, resurfacing will take place north of Church Stretton around the junction with the B5477, with a closure from Leebotwood to the B4371 junction in Church Stretton itself.
Then from September 26 to October 13, it will take place north of Craven Arms around the junction with the A489, with a closure from there to Church Stretton.
Side roads and junctions throughout the closure extents will be restricted during working hours and access to properties within the closure will be maintained.
Diversions are likely to be via Much Wenlock.
A spokesman for Highways England said: "These dates are subject to change, dependent on weather conditions and possible programme improvements.
"Local residents will be kept fully informed of any amendments to the works schedule."
