Six weeks of disruption for Telford motorists as resurfacing work to start
Motorists across Telford face six weeks of hold-ups under a major roadworks scheme.
Various roads across the borough will be closed between October 3 and November 11 at the earliest.
A major programme of resurfacing work will cause six weeks of disruption.
Roads will be closed across most of the sites, with much of the work taking place on roundabouts across Telford and Wrekin.
Access for residents and businesses will be maintained throughout the works and diversions will be put in place where needed.
Funding for the work has come from the council's highways capital fund as part of its pride in your community programme, which is in place to make the borough a better place to live, work and visit.
Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet member for transport, apologised for any delays caused by the work, but said that road closures allowed for it to be completed quickly, safely and efficiently to minimise disruption.
"These road repairs are being carried out as part of our ongoing work to make the borough a safe and well maintained place – this is positive news for residents," she said.
"However, I would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by this extensive programme of works.
"We have drawn up a schedule to keep disruption to a minimum as far as possible and I would like to thank everyone affected in advance for their patience and co-operation," she said.
