Overnight roadworks to create disruption on A49 in Shropshire
Disruption on one the Shropshire's major roads is set to continue as overnight work takes place.
Sections of the A49 through Church Stretton and Craven Arms will be closed between 9pm and 6am every night until Sunday.
The closures will be between the junctions for the B4371 in Church Stretton to the Henley Lane junction south of the town and from the A489 junction at Wistanstow, north of Craven Arms, to Quarry Meadows on the south edge of the town.
The work is to renew road markings and road studs and was set to start last night.
The closures include side roads, but access to businesses and homes will be maintained.
It follows overnight closures for similar work between Shrewsbury and Condover Road on the A49 in recent weeks and nearly two months of closures and roadworks for resurfacing over the summer.
Highways England, which is carrying out the work, says that its staff will be working through the night in an effort to minimise disruption. A diversion will be in place from Bayston Hill, near Shrewsbury, to Craven Arms, and from Craven Arms to Bromfield, near Ludlow.
