Kier will carry out drainage and essential resurfacing work on behalf of Highways England.
It will be on the stretch of the motorway between junction five for Telford town centre and junction seven for Wellington.
The work will start on Monday, January 23, and run until March 31.
The majority of the work will take place between 8pm and 6am but there will be one weekend closure of junction six westbound for Telford West.
This is to allow for inlay works to be carried out by Kier.
Diversions for motorists will be signposted during the works.
Letters have been sent outlining the programme of works to residents.
They have been sent to people who are living in areas neighbouring the junctions.
