Roadworks heading to the A49 in Craven Arms again
Road works are set to hit the centre of Craven Arms over the coming days, it has been revealed.
Contractors with National Grid Gas have returned to the town to deal with pipe problems linking back to emergency work last year on the busy A49.
Sara Wilcox, speaking for National Grid Midlands, said there was no firm timescale to the works as yet.
She said: "We are going to be replacing 30 metres of metal pipe. This pipe does have a history of leaks on it.
"Over the next few days our engineers will be doing preparation work and once that is completed they will be putting up temporary traffic lights.
"We do appreciate that that is a busy road so there will be no traffic lights while prep work is taking place, but once they start digging down there will have to be traffic lights."
She said they would have a clearer idea of how long and where the works would be in the coming days.
Works on the stretch in August last year, and November 2015, caused misery for motorists and anger from traders as long tailbacks caused gridlock through the town.
Harry Delves, commercial director at Harry Tuffins supermarket next to where the works are taking place, said he understood the work should remove future problems caused by the metal section of pipe and hoped it would be "a fairly simple job".
But he said he was disappointed Tuffins had little prior warning, and issue that upset traders last time.
