Station Road was shut earlier this year for new sewers to be built. The road was set to reopen today – three days earlier than expected.

One of the main roads in and out of the town, the road was closed while Shropshire Homes built new sewers in the area. It was tied to the building of 50 homes along the same road.

Andy Sheldon, of Shropshire Homes, said: "We would like to thank everybody for their cooperation during the disturbance.

"We're pleased to be opening the road in advance of the original planned date of Monday, May 15."

Councillor Peter Scott said: "Thanks to everybody for their patience, but I'd also like to pay tribute to Shropshire Homes and Weston Power, who went out of their way to get the job done as quick as they could.

"There was a lot of concern at the time. Since the planning permission was passed, there was always going to be disruption. We all knew that, but we've got through it. I'm sure the businesses down there will now reap the benefits of the road being reopened.

"We've got a resolution on the whole thing now. The future looks rosy."
