Road markings being altered at 'confusing' M54 roundabout for Shifnal
Road markings at the M54's "confusing" roundabout for Shifnal and Priorslee were being changed tonight.
Lanes were being closed as workmen set about the works at junction four.
The junction is one of a number of roundabouts in Telford which have recently undergone major works to increase capacity.
But residents in Shifnal and Priorslee have said the new markings around the roundabout are causing confusion, particularly for motorists who don't know the area.
Work was starting from 8pm and will continue tomorrow night.
Angie Astley, Telford & Wrekin Council’s assistant director for neighbourhood and customer services, said: “Lane closures will be in place from 8pm to 5am but the junction will remain open throughout the night.
“The new road markings will replace an original design to improve traffic flow and safety at this key gateway to the borough.”
Junction Four serves Shifnal, Priorslee, Stafford Park and eastern Telford as well as being the link for the M54’s only service station.
The improvements to the junction were part of the wider £17.4 million Telford Growth Point Package, which has already seen work begin at Shawbirch Roundabout, Limekiln roundabout in Priorslee, Clock Tower roundabout in Donnington, Trench Lock roundabout, at M54 junction 4, Rampart Way and the extension of the Hortonwood business park.
