Telford woman injured as serious crash closes A5

A Telford woman was injured in a serious crash involving a car and a lorry on the A5 last night.

The 37-year-old woman suffered head injuries in the crash in South Staffordshire and was rushed to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.

The smash involved a white Suzuki Jimny and a white Mercedes HGV and happened on the A5 Trunk Road at Four Ashes, at the junction of Vicarage Road.

The crash is reported to have happened at around 9.35pm on January 15.

Staffordshire Police have described the woman's condition as stable.

The A5 remained shut in both directions on Tuesday morning while the roadside barriers were fixed at Vicarage Road, with traffic being diverted via the M6, A460 and A4601.

The HGV lorry has been recovered from the scene.

Any witnesses to the crash are asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 681 of January 15.
