The accident happened at Nantoer Bridg on the A489 in Newtown at about 7.30am. Dyfed Powys Police said the accident had completely blocked the road. Recovery crews were on scene from 9am.

The road was closed both ways between Heol Vaynor and Mochdre Lane.

Welsh Ambulance Service said a man was treated for minor injuries.

Diversions were set up for traffic and Arriva Trains Wales stopped trains on the line until engineers checked for structural damage.

Trains were later restarted but passengers were warned that services were running about 10 minutes late as speeds had to be slowed over the bridge.
