‘Good progress’ over A483 junction work near Oswestry
Roadworks on a danger junction on one of the major roads leading into Shropshire are progressing well according to contractors.
Work began in March to install traffic lights at the A483 Maesbury Road junction, near Oswestry, where fatalities have occurred in recent years.
Works are set to take five months to complete, however a spokesman for Highways England said: "We continue to make good progress with work at the Maesbury Road junction and we’d like to thank people for their patience while this takes place.”
Highways England are improving the layout of the junction and installing traffic signals to smooth the flow of traffic, reduce queuing on either side of the A483 and improve safety for both pedestrians and motorists.
An additional lane will be added in both the north and southbound directions and street lighting will also be upgraded, and drainage work is also taking place to reduce flooding.
After works are finished at Maesbury, contractors will be widening the approach to the roundabout from Wrexham, as well as renewing the road markings and reviewing signage.
All works are on track to be finished by the summer holidays.
