Serious crash closes A41 as thousands leave RAF Cosford Air Show
A serious crash closed the A41 near RAF Cosford just as thousands of motorists were leaving this year's air show.
The crash was at Albrighton, one mile from the Cosford airbase, on the A41 heading south towards Wolverhampton, and happened at around 4.50pm on Sunday.
All emergency services were at the scene, with two people injured. Motorists were being advised to find alternative routes.
The two injured people were taken to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield.
A spokesman for Mercia Police said: "We are treating this as a serious road traffic collision. Two vehicles are involved in the crash which we are still dealing with.
"We have two people injured. One person had potentially got serious injuries.
"The road is currently closed. We are carrying out an investigation."
The crash affected the thousands of visitors to the RAF Cosford Air Show.
Those leaving the event at Cosford, were asked to turn left towards the M54 roundabout as there was no access on the A41 towards Wolverhampton.
With 60,000 people having descended on the air show, staff were working to allow the smooth exit of traffic - with air show organisers suggesting people could stay on site longer if they were able.
West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses to help with their investigation into the crash.
Witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting incident reference number 5745S of June 10.
