Cross Street Bridge in Castle Foregate will be inspected by workers from the rail company and the road under the bridge will be closed to traffic and pedestrians from 7pm-6am on March 21 and March 22.

Signs have been put in place in the last few days warning of the closure.

Gary Parton, Shropshire Council’s senior network manager, said: “The signage is about forthcoming works planned to be undertaken by contractors working on behalf of Network Rail.

"It’s proposed that the Cross Street underbridge is temporarily closed to traffic on Thursday March 21 and Friday March 22 (between 1900 and 0600hrs only each night) in order for a detailed inspection of the underbridge structure to take place safely.

"Local signed traffic and pedestrian diversions will be in place between those hours.”
