Traffic Wales has given an update on the work, which will see a number of streets in the town re-configured from their usual one way system.

The work entails the realignment of kerbs and footways, changes to road markings and the restoration of two-way traffic flow along a section of Brook Street.

Contractors have held a public meeting and explained what is going to happen with the work.

A statement from Traffic Wales said: "At varying times, the works will affect Broad Street, High Street, Jehu Road, Brook Street, Church Street, Church Bank, Salop Road and Mill Lane.

“This could result in a higher than usual level of noise and disruption to traffic flow at intervals and I take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience incurred.

“A full and permanent closure of the B4381 Brook Street lane into the A458 Church Street junction will occur and a temporary night-time closure of the A458 Church Bank to Salop Road will also be necessary. Dates for these closures will be notified in due course.”
