Roadworks in place while cables installed
Work on power cables to improve electricity supplies to 150 homes will begin next week.
Western Power Distribution (WPD) is replacing the power cables on Madeley Road in Ironbridge and expects the work to take 10 weeks to complete.
It starts on Monday, with traffic lights and diversions in place throughout the process.
WPD said that around 500m of cables are due to be replaced on Madeley Road and a link box is also due to be installed.
“This investment will help to safeguard electricity supplies for our customers in the region for years to come by improving the infrastructure and security of our network,” said Melvyn Holmes, WPD’s team manager.
He added: “Our aim is to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum.
"We have been working with Telford and Wrekin Council and other contractors to schedule our works to minimise the inconvenience in the area.
"We will also be keeping customers and business along the route informed by letter and by visits from WPD staff.”
