'Don't see where cost is from': A41 roadworks row rumbles on as council plans for next phase
A resident who was allowed to drive through roadworks which closed the A41 for weeks has criticised the work done during the closure.
The roadworks saw more than 8,000 man-hours put into improving the Newport to Sambrook part of the key route from Telford to the border with Shropshire.
"I'm not looking forward to 2024 when they plan to start phase two," said the resident who was allowed, under escort, to use the road and avoid a 29-mile detour.
"All they did was resurface about three quarters of a mile, the rest of it is just patchwork, the bare minimum.
"In places like China they can do that in five days, not weeks. I suspect that red tape gets in the way in this country."
Other residents have made their views known on Facebook, writing of their dissatisfaction on the Telford & Wrekin Council Facebook page.
Elliott James said: "Some of the drains look tatty, the concrete looks like its been slapped on.
