Letter: Delight at Pride of Shropshire event

I am writing to you to express our thanks for a wonderful evening at The Pride of Shropshire 2012 awards ceremony on Tuesday night. We had a lovely time and would like you to convey our thanks to everyone who made the evening possible.

We had considered it a privilege for our son David to be selected as a finalist so we were absolutely delighted to hear that he had won the Learner Award.

We were, however, extremely shocked and humbled when it was announced that he was the overall winner also. Against so many other worthy winners, we never dreamt he would be given that honour.

We would also like to congratulate all the other finalists in all the categories – they had all achieved so much and it is great that these awards recognise that.

As David's immensely proud parents, we were touched that so many of the other winners made a point of telling us how pleased they were that he had won. David himself enjoyed meeting everyone, especially all the lovely young ladies who hugged and kissed him.

As anyone who knows David is aware, he found that part of the proceedings extremely enjoyable and he wished to point out that he is on Facebook should anyone care to add him as a friend. You'll recognise his picture, I'm sure. Once again thank you to all.
