Letter: Memories of hospital parking charges

It is all very well that Councillor Mike Ion should call for the scrapping of the hospital parking charges.

Let us not forget that it was his Labour Government that introduced them. I remember, when Conservative councillors on Wellington Town Council fought against them, being told the money was needed for patient care.

The contract was set up when Labour was running the council. A tax, once implemented, is difficult to get rid of.
