Letter: A helping hand to explain bus route

A lady approached me while I was grappling with the two Jack Russells in my charge after crossing  Finger Road, Dawley.

She hoped that I may be able to help her, unlike the previous dog walker who'd gone by the bus stop she had been standing at for "the last hour".

As it was 11.40am she must have missed the two hourly 10.40am No 88. After explaining the bus schedule that I do sometimes have occasion to use, I agreed that it is "ridiculous".

Arriva runs the 10 minute bus around the houses and a two hourly bus along this, one of Telford's main roads joining Wellington to Madeley.

The lady went on her way up the hill to the Portley Corner stop where she could catch the aforementioned 10 minute No 11 bus, which I use regularly. As I walked on, with the now more calm Jackies, I couldn't help reflecting on a time back when, there is every possibility that some five miles back on the No 88 route there is still enough community spirit that would allow that lady to have discovered the bus schedule much sooner.

Yes, I bet all those shops on the High Street of Broseley would know, let alone the pedestrians who are prospective customers of those shops, even if they are not Arriva's.

Opposite the Finger Road bus stop is a sandwich shop, and a grocer let alone the passing postman.

Maybe this is what we get on this side of the River Severn?
