Letter: Self-interest is driving force

People need to ask themselves the question, why do people from France, Germany, and Obama from America, tell us we need to remain in the EU?

Published

Is it because they care about us? No, it is in their interests for their good not ours. Do you think America would allow their lives to be run from an unelected body in some other country? Definitely not, so why should we.

What about all the predictions of doom from our own government. Every few months the Chancellor has to change his predictions because he got them wrong and now they are telling you something 20 years down the line. Codswallop. Stick to your gut feelings, let us be masters of our own destinies.

Britain has lots of talent, some magnificent brains and businesses. Remember the EU countries sell more to us than we do to them, a trade imbalance. Trade barriers they won't want them, it will be to their detriment.

Smaller countries than ours thrive and survive. Look at the sacrifices we have made in two world wars to keep our way of life, our democracy, and to make our own laws.

Vote Out or rest assured any deals made by Cameron will count for nothing and we will be part of a federal Europe ruled by unelected bureaucrats, with an organization that is so corrupt. Books have not been audited for many many years. Many politicians are waiting to get on the gravy train that is the EU. Well do not let it be at our the British taxpayers' expense.
