Letter: Shrewsbury roundabout chaos likely

I live in Mill Meadow, Shrewsbury, and for some time we have been unable to turn right from Sutton Road on to Oteley Road.

It looks like this will continue for sometime with the proposed housing and shopping developments in the pipeline.

To access the Meole Brace Retail Park, the park and ride or hospital. I have to take the A5. On return I negotiate the Meole Brace roundabout with little difficulty. Now the Meole Brace roundabout is to be torn up by developments which are intended to improve the traffic flow. The rest of the "package" I will pass over at the moment.

The council state that all this work will not cost the council anything as the funding will come from other sources. Is this an argument for causing chaos and of course the money has to come from somewhere. Perhaps if we could persuade the council members to leave their cars at home and take to the footpath and cycle tracks on which they are so keen, or even join Amy Turner (Star, October 18) on her space hopper all this chaos would be cheaper still.
