Bad negotiator or interference behind scenes held up Brexit?
Many months ago we had a vote asking whether we wanted to leave the European Union. It appears 69 per cent plus of the country’s constituencies voted to leave.
My question is why has it taken so long for negotiations to be concluded? Was it a poor negotiator or interference from behind the scenes? We appear to be talking about trade at this late stage, this should have been one of the first subjects to have been discussed. When negotiating, one has to be left alone because one has to make decisions on the hoof with questions and immediate ripostes to answers.
Then there are those who are telling us what is going to happen. Two non-British bankers (one employed by the Bank of England) have made such a statement but without justification, (if you’re going to say something give full facts please).
The German spokesman for a British car company complained about its reduction of the company’s car sales. He blamed this on Brexit. For goodness sake we aren’t there yet. Perhaps it was the production of diesel vehicles that are not selling, or not realising what other companies were doing, most have introduced SUV models – they don’t have one, therefore was it Brexit?
There are those who want another referendum. They should think on, not let dogma control their ideas. We will be out of the EU when this happens. What will be the question on the voting paper? ‘Do you want to stay out of the EU?’ or ‘Should we reapply to join?’
I have a philosophy when looking at others’ ideas. 1) If someone knows nothing and they know that, they are to be taught. 2) If they know something but think they know nothing, they are to be nurtured. 3) If they know something and know they are something, they are to be respected. 4) If they know nothing but think they know something, they are to be ignored. A considerable amount I am hearing appears to fall in the latter category.
