QUESTIONS ON GOWER BUILDING
On reading the article on the Gower Building it makes you wonder how these things can be allowed to happen. According to the Vice Chair of St George's & Priorslee Parish Council the building will not be complete till until the end of 2025, and states it's an old building and problems have come to light. What a statement to make. Everyone knew it was and old building that needed a lot of work doing to it.
A survey was carried out, 4,500 survey sheets were sent out, 450 were returned with 296 in favour of making it a community building and Parish office. Now please can some one explain how you vote that through when so few people voted for it to happen? Why do you need a parish office when it is only open four days a week six hours a day? But the parish plans didn't go through because of the costs. So T&WC took it on. Now we are at the stage were work has started, but there has been a slip up.
If any one wants to get things done for the community it should be self financing. That's how it should work. The Anstice in Madeley was done up complete with new heating controls, but as stated in your paper it didn't work so a new one would be purchased. Why wasn't the installer brought back to put it right? It has now been granted £175k to allow it to carry on operating for the next five years.
Don't these people realise we have people sleeping rough, elderly people struggling to make ends meet plus lots of people in need of some one to support them in their time of need? I can't see how these things get voted through by the people we vote in to do what is best for the majority not the minority.
