WORKING HARD TO FIND MY NEXT JOB

Since mid-way through this year, I have found myself in a predicament where I need a stable job and am doing my best to avoid claiming state benefits. Now, some might say that it’s not that hard to find a job advert, but that isn't the issue. The biggest issue is getting feedback to improve your application for the next opportunity.

Since August, I have sent off hundreds of applications since becoming redundant.

Now, these normally have the same response if I get a response that goes along the lines of saying it’s “unfortunate” and “due to the high number of applicants, we cannot give individual feedback”.

This gets annoying after a while because I don't know how I can improve. Now consider that all businesses have been slowing their recruitment since the autumn budget. What does that leave?

What can you do? Well there are a few options. I have decided to take every possible free course at the Open University; not only does it fill my time, but I am also learning skills that I was either unaware of or very rusty about. Most of my generation was brought up on Word and Excel, but now I am taking the time to better understand it while also studying options for business ideas.

So here we are, we have the choice of either being stuck in hard times and hoping on the good fortune of others to get us out of it or working on ourselves and looking at any role or opportunity.
