Today, which started out as a damp day, is the first full day of competitions on the stage with performers from around the world competing in song and dance.
Entitled International Song and Dance Day, it features children's choirs, folk song groups, folk dance groups, plus soloists and a world street dance competition. Also on the field are set to be dance workshops and world music performances followed tonight with Window on the World - the official welcoming ceremony concert.
Executive director Mervyn Cousins said today was set to feature some "fabulous" competitors. He said: "My favourite competition today is the folk song group, you really get to the roots of folk music."
He added: "Yesterday was a fabulous day. The parade was long and colourful. It was a really great day and we had a super show from Elaine Paige."
He added the peace message was "very moving" and was very well received by the thousands of primary school pupils who attended.

A Llangollen woman who appeared in the musical Evita with Elaine Paige three decades ago met up with the West End star again in an emotional reunion at the eisteddofd. Julie Thomas, now a drama teacher, was in the London production of the Rice/Lloyd Webber blockbuster. She was thrilled when she not only attended the concert last night, but later met Miss Paige for a chat.
