Hundreds of people packed into a Shropshire nightclub to see the '80s pop legend Boy George take to the stage for a DJ set.

The singer, who enjoyed worldwide fame as the frontman of 1980s group Culture Club and has since forged a global reputation as a top DJ, performed at Gibsons nightclub in Oswestry last night.

The appearance, which saw the launch of his new album The Koolwaters 365, was described as a real coup for the town by organiser Paul Headings.

He said his dance night Redefined Disco had worked with other well-known acts in the past such as Leeroy Thornhill from The Prodigy, and K-Klass but Boy George was the highest profile booking to date.

Boy George was supported by various acts, including DJ and producer Marc Vedo, the production artist behind Boy George's next UK single, due out before Christmas.

One of the support acts also included former Big Brother contestant Freddie Fisher from the Shropshire border, who is launching his new career, also as a DJ.
