Autumn blazes across the region with local parks and beauty spots coming to life in a palette of vivid shades. The Wrekin, in Telford, has been garlanded with golden leaves, thrilling visitors for a brief time before the glorious sight disappears in the forthcoming winter cold.

The Llangollen Canal has been given an ochre makeover with the trees and bushes that dot its banks shedding their usual green hues.

Whittington Castle, near Oswestry, looks idyllic with the warm grey/brown stone of its imposing walls contrasting with the reds and scarlets on the landscape.

And other parts of the county, such as Ludlow Castle, Clee Hill and countryside parks in Bridgnorth and Telford, have also been given a painterly glow.

People across the county are making the most of the season, with ramblers, day trippers, cyclists, runners and more besides enjoying the picturesque scenes.

Foragers have also been out and about, visiting top secret sites to search for seasonal produce, like wild mushrooms and autumnal nuts and berries.

Andrea Webster, at Weston Park, said the grounds of the stately home, on the Shropshire and Staffordshire border, looked magical at this time of year.

She said the venue had been welcoming people to seasonal events such as a fungi foray and a Halloween activity.

Ms Webster said: "We're celebrating autumn this Sunday with an autumnal parkland walk.

"People can join Martin Gee, our head gardener, to learn more about Weston Park.

"Mr Gee is well placed to comment because his family has lived and worked on the estate for more than 200 years.

"He will take people on a walk through the parkland, exploring the Capability Brown-designed landscape, where they can see the stunning autumnal colours."
