Masked vandals threw curry at the front of a restaurant in an early morning attack in Shrewsbury.

The two culprits, armed with plastic bags full of curry, tossed the contents all over the windows of the Indian Village restaurant in Mardol at about 6.30am on Monday.

The owner of the restaurant, Parvez Choudhury, today said the vandals, believed to be men, were captured carrying out the attack on the restaurant's CCTV. He has now appealed for the public to help catch those involved.

Mr Choudhury, who also owns the Ganges restaurant in Abbey Foregate, said it was not the first time his business had been vandalised.

In August last year police were called after about 30 eggs were thrown at the restaurant and its locks were tampered with in another early morning attack.

Mr Choudhury said: "It is awful and I want help to try and track down these people. They are trying to destroy my business. They are trying to ruin it.

"I hope the CCTV images will help to catch these people before they do it again."

Mr Choudhury has been running successful Indian restaurants in Shrewsbury for more than 25 years. He opened the Indian Village two years ago but has since endured attacks on his new venture.

"I have never experienced anything like this before.

"I've been running the Ganges restaurant for 25 years. I don't know why they would do this," he added.

Police are investigating the latest incident.

Richard Ewels, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

He said: "Police have been informed and we are investigating an incident of criminal damage. We appeal for anyone with information to come forward."

Any witnesses can contact Shrewsbury Police Station on 101.
