It was only launched last October, but has had a huge impact .

From cute animals to county landmarks and beautiful rural scenes, the gallery represents the very best that Shropshire and Mid Wales has to offer.

The Star Witness site, part of shropshirestar.com, is also a great way to send in news pictures and it came into its own earlier this year when the region was hit by flooding.

And there is also a £100 prize up for grabs for the best photo sent in each month.

Shropshire Star assistant electronic editor Ian Harvey is the man in charge of sifting through the pictures sent through to the Star Witness site.

He said: "The quality of the photographs we receive is outstanding.

"And from the very outset we have been inundated with pictures.

"We live in a beautiful part of the world and some of the photographs reflect this wonderfully.

"And the site comes into its own when there is a big event. Our readers really get involved and during the floods we were left with an extensive photographic record."

Shropshire Star Deputy Editor Mark Drew added: "Star Witness has been a great success and has caught on far quicker than we ever imagined.

"I would like to thank everyone who has contributed and I hope they continue to do so. It is creating a valuable archive of our region that can be enjoyed by anyone."
