Priorslee in Telford is in a fantastically convenient location, but because of the new build explosion it can be a bit of a concrete jungle.

What's it like? "When I moved in to Priorslee around six years ago was very much considered "THE place to live in Telford" and rightly so – luxury housing estates and smart new developments, schools, chemists, doctors, two good pubs, a pretty village area, and close to the town centre for shopping.

"But because of the new build explosion it can be a bit of a concrete jungle."

What's good about it? "Great location, only two minutes drive from the M54 offering easy access to neighbouring towns and cities. Also handy for Telford's train and bus stations.

"The area around Priorslee Lake, a centre for wildlife and conservation, is lovely, while the lake itself offers some fantastic watersports. The Shropshire campus of the University of Wolverhampton is also here."

Any downsides? "Rooftops as far as the eye can see. Petty crimes caused by groups of bored youths hanging around the estate. Very modern so no history, generally a bit cramped and in my view, you can get far more attractive options for your money."

Where's good for going out? "The Lion Inn is nice enough, with real ales and a good beer garden. The Lake is good for fishing, watersports and dog walking. But nearby Ironbridge offers the best option for nightlife, entertainment and restaurants."

Little known facts: A quarter of Priorslee's population are under 15 years old. There have been suggestions of an ancient burial site being discovered close to the Lake, which was used during the Bronze age, but little is known about this.

Average house price: £92,000 to £170,000 (figure taken from mouseprice.com)

Schools: Priorslee Primary School. There is also a pre-school and and out-of-school club.

Based on an interview with a Priorslee resident - November 2007
