MP meets the pupils of Longlands Primary School
North Shropshire MP Owen Paterson met a future generation of voters when he opened their new school courtyard.
He also talked to the youngsters of Longlands Primary School in Market Drayton about issues such as democracy and the right to vote, said acting head teacher, Zillah
Cope.
"Mr Paterson took the trouble to fully engage with the children here and it was obvious they thoroughly enjoyed it, she added.
"First of all he conducted an assembly for the whole school about democracy and the right to vote, and held a 'Question Time' session with pupils.
"He then worked with Year 5 and Year 6 school council candidates, and went on to help the children prepare their speeches ready for voting."
An important feature of North Shropshire MP's visit was to officially open the newly refurbished courtyard.
