Shropshire students head to Cambridge University
Primary School pupils from Oswestry, Whitchurch and surrounding areas were given the opportunity to visit the UK's top University as part of The Futures Award.
Organised by The Marches Academy Trust, the trip to the University of Cambridge was designed to ignite the aspirations of Year 6 students.
The award aims to encourage pupils to begin thinking about their ambitions for the future and to be inspired by the possibilities available to them, as well as supporting their transition into high school.
During their visit, pupils attended a lecture on 'Hot and Cold Materials', which included an experiment with liquid nitrogen, attended a talk on University Life, enjoyed a full tour of the college grounds and asked undergraduate students questions in a 'Q & A session'.
Carl Rogers, Deputy Headteacher at Ellesmere Primary School, said: "The children found it totally inspirational and were waxing lyrical upon their return. We are thrilled to have been involved."
