Sessions giving local people the chance to speak to their local county councillors will be held later this month in a brand new initiative from the authority called Councillor Question Time, with a TV star in the chair. Planned as a monthly event, the aim of the new project is to gather key councillors and senior officers under one roof and allow up to 200 members of the public to put them on the spot and ask them questions.  The first Councillor Question Time will take place on July 17 at 7pm at Keele University Medical School lecture theatre and will be open to anyone who wishes to attend.  The event is being chaired independently by ITV Central's news anchorman Bob Warman from 7pm. Stafford council worker Bob Shepherd said he has saved enough money to buy a digital camera and motorbike since ditching cigarettes, with help from a specialist nurse at Staffordshire General Hospital and has urged others to do the same. Sue Coghlan, smoking cessation specialist nurse, advises and supports patients who want to give up smoking and, over the last three years, 134 of the 182 patients she has seen have successfully kicked the habit – a success rate of 73 per cent. Bob, of Tillington, Stafford is deputy head of the grounds service for Staffordshire County Council's education department, and asked for help to quit four years ago when he was attending the hospital for treatment for psoriasis and a form of arthritis. He was referred to Sue, who talked to him about the benefits of giving up and helped him to set a date for quitting. Read the full story in the Express & Star.

Taylor witnessed at first hand the impact the Baggies supporters had on their team when they last won promotion though the play-offs 14 years ago. More than 40,000 Albion fans roared their team to victory over Port Vale at Wembley. But it was the atmosphere they generated semi-final victory over Swansea at The Hawthorns – a game which Albion played part of with nine men after Micky Mellon was sent-off and Paul Raven suffered a head injury that required stitches – that stuck in his mind. A former president of Wolverhampton Chamber of Commerce has died. Bob Joseph, aged 87, was also a former trustee and governor of Wolverhampton Grammar School. He was described as a dedicated family man who enjoyed success in business, commerce and industry.
