Neil Williams, of Calcott, Stirchley, was discovered at the back of Churncote in Stirchley on Friday morning. Detectives believe he was either pounced on by robbers as he was walking home from the pub or thieves rifled through his pockets as he lay helpless on the ground. Detective Inspector John Elcock, said: "People may be protecting others by not coming forward with this information. I cannot believe somebody doesn't know what has happened." The incident is alleged to have taken place in the early hours. Officers from Telford CID said early inquiries had so far established that the woman left the Station Hotel in Wellington at about 1.40am. She believes that she made her way along Market Street and was assaulted during her walk home. Police say it appears that the woman may have lost consciousness during the alleged incident as a member of the public came to her aid and helped her up off the ground. The victim was grabbed from behind and forced to the floor before the culprit attempted to tear at her clothing and underwear. The terrified victim managed to fight the assailant off and then fled towards the safety of a nearby police station. The accident occurred on the A41 at Rectory Road, between Albrighton and Cosford, at about 9.15pm on Thursday. But before they do, the soldiers of the Royal Irish Regiment will celebrate St Patrick's Day with their families at Clive Barracks in Tern Hill. They will take part in a chariot race known as the Shamrock Stakes before a traditional service is held on the parade square.
