The veteran keeper signed an 18-month deal with the Baggies last night after completing his move from Portsmouth on a free transfer. In joining Albion, Kiely admitted his career had come full circle after starting out at The Hawthorns in the early 1980s before progressing to the FA School of Excellence at Lilleshall and moving on to Coventry in 1987 as a pro. The 36-year-old has since enjoyed spells with York, Bury, Charlton and Portsmouth, but said he was looking forward to getting his teeth into his new challenge. "I wasn't playing at Portsmouth and I'm all about playing football," said Kiely, who played for Luton in Albion's last home game. Read the full story in the Express & Star

Dean Kiely today cranked up the build-up to Albion's FA Cup semi-final by telling Premier League opponents Portsmouth: "We're as big a club as you". Ex-Pompey goalkeeper Kiely drew the battle lines for Saturday's last-four clash at Wembley by reminding his former side that the Baggies are as big as any club left in the Cup. And the 37-year-old insisted Tony Mowbray's men will not consider themselves underdogs when they go in search of their first Cup final in 40 years. "It will be a great day out for the fans and for our families but from our point of view we're not 'little old minnows' who find ourselves amazingly in the semi-finals," said Kiely. "We're playing one level below the Premier League and we all feel that we are in the semi-finals on merit. "We deserve to be where we are.
