Craven Arms Town Council last night voted to investigate getting a designated public place order (DPPO) to cover areas where alcohol related anti-social behaviour has been a problem. And councillors also agreed options could include a blanket booze ban across the town.

Welshpool Town Council said today it has been unsuccessful in trying to combat the rabbit problem on the Maesydre playing fields. Robert Robinson, town clerk, said the council had tried everything, but the rabbits had been creating divots and holes on the sports pitches and unless something was done to alleviate the problem injuries would be caused. New laws are set to be introduced in a Staffordshire village which would ban teenagers from boozing on the streets amid fears that they are developing a drinking culture. Essington Parish Council wants to bring in an alcohol by-law giving police the power to shift anti-social gangs congregating on the streets drinking. Members have unanimously voted to back the plan amid claims the problem was getting fast "out of hand". Council chairman David Clifft said: "Drinking on our streets is becoming a major problem.
