Michael Bailey, 51, is one of two people who have taken HM Prison Service to an employment tribunal after being forced to leave Stoke Heath Young Offenders' Institution, near Market Drayton. Mr Bailey, from Market Drayton, and 53-year-old Richard Wilde, are both claiming unfair dismissal at the tribunal at Prospect House, Shrewsbury. Read the full story in today's Shropshire Star

Silver joy for Bushell in 100m

Telford teenager Mickey Bushell today scooped silver in the men's T53 100m finals at the Beijing Paralympics and declared: "I just can't believe it." Telford teenager Mickey Bushell today scooped silver in the men's T53 100m finals at the Beijing Paralympics and declared: "I just can't believe it." Mickey, a sports studies student at Telford College of Arts and Technology, smashed the European record during the race - narrowly missing out on a gold medal by just 13 hundredths of a second. The 18-year-old wheelchair racer and his family said they were bowled over. College principal Doug Boynton OBE said it was "an awesome achievement from a delightful young man".
